ciscoThe U.S. Department of Energy’s inaugural Connected Lighting Systems Meeting, held November 16 in Portland, OR, saw more than 260 experts from the lighting, semiconductor, and IT industries gather to share perspectives and lay the groundwork for government/industry collaboration on the convergence of intelligent controllable light sources, communication networks, sensors, and data exchange in future lighting systems.

Craig, Thanks for sharing and although I have only had a little time thus far to take a quick look at some of the content I am immediately struck by not entirely sure what this was about and some notable omissions regarding open interoperable standards groups such as EnOcean-Alliance and DALI.org?

For some years now it has been perfectly possible to purchase globally open standards interoperable intelligent light fixtures and input control devices both wired and wireless. These devices being part of the multi-vendor IoT smart lighting and building controls solutions successfully deployed since about 2007/2008?

Surely time would be best spent on focussing on these perfectly adequate IoT standards and solutions and refining them and reducing any diversity of solutions to better enable market understanding whilst reducing confusion?

    Best regards,

    Mike
