LEDs Magazine recently published an article by Jurgen Hase, VP of machine-to-machine competence at the Deutsche Telekom, in which Hase describes a trend among cities to adopt networked lighting control. These lighting control systems allow remote control and operation of streetlighting systems for significant benefits–not only energy savings and improved maintenance of the lighting, but integration of other sensors providing new services and functionality.
